Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • Dragon Fruit (Passion Fruit)
  • Orange
  • Jasmine Green Tea Leaves / Soda Water (Choose one)
  • White Sugar
  • Ice cubes
  • Honey (Optional)
  • Mint leaves or other green leaves (Optional for decoration)
  • Tools
  • Manual juicer

Steps

  1. Dress the Dragon Fruit (Since the quantity is small and making it fresh is difficult, this is a 2-portion quantity):
  2. Remove the flesh from three passion fruits (do not waste the juice), place in a container.
  3. Weigh in 30g of white sugar.
  4. Weigh in 10g of honey (if unavailable, substitute with 5g white sugar).
  5. Mix evenly.
  6. Cover the container with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for 12~24 hours.
  7. Prepare Jasmine Green Tea (Recommended ratio => Tea : Water : Ice = 1~2 : 50 : 30):
  8. Weigh 3~6g of tea leaves and place in a container, add 150ml boiling water, steep for 6 minutes.
  9. Place 90g of ice cubes into the steeped green tea to cool, stir to speed up cooling.
  10. After the ice melts, filter out the tea leaves to get approximately 240ml of jasmine green tea.
  11. Prepare the Orange (can be done while the tea is steeping):
  12. Cut the orange in half (**knife direction vertically perpendicular to the orange's vertical axis/line connecting the stem and blossom end**), and take one slice from the half to set aside.
  13. Cut the orange in half again. Use the juicer to extract juice from the four quarters into a container to set aside.
  14. Assembly:
  15. Choose a glass, it is recommended to use a transparent glass cup with a capacity of 350~400ml.
  16. Place 70g of ice cubes at the bottom of the cup, and pour all the orange juice in.
  17. Place the reserved orange slice upright against the inner wall of the cup.
  18. Pour the marinated passion fruit mixture over the ice.
  19. Slowly pour in the jasmine green tea until the cup is full to facilitate layering.
  20. Place decoration greens (optional) on the surface of the liquid.
  21. Stir evenly and enjoy.

Notes

This is a sweet, sour, and refreshing summer beverage. It blends the tropical aroma of the dragon fruit with the freshness of the orange. Paired with jasmine green tea or soda water, the texture layers are distinct and it is ice-cold and cleansing. Rich in Vitamin C, it helps boost immunity and nourish the skin. This recipe includes steps for marinating, tea brewing, and juicing; the process is slightly long but the difficulty is moderate, making it suitable for beginners. The dragon fruit needs to be marinated one day in advance, with a total time of about 24 hours (actual preparation time is only around 30 minutes).
